卡隆西格酒莊(Chateau Calon Segur)是一家古老的波爾多三級酒莊,專門生產強勁、可陳年的紅酒。卡隆西格酒莊的悠久歷史要追溯到法國羅馬時期,當時這裡就是一處身世顯赫的貴族莊園。卡隆這個名字最初源於拉丁文中的calonis,意思是指那些用於在美度地區內河流域穿梭往來、運送木材的小船。 好幾個世紀以來,這個莊園的名字一直都叫“de Calones”,直到18世紀才開始改名為“卡隆”。 卡隆西格酒莊恐怕應該算是種植葡萄的鼻祖,有記錄記載,早在13世紀這裡就開始繳納葡萄酒生產稅了。
跟其他眾多的葡萄酒莊一樣,卡隆西格酒莊歷史上也是幾經易主,最早是屬於Gombaud家族,後來又成為美度區的名莊d`Albrets的一部份。進入18世紀,卡隆西格酒莊迎來了他們歷史上重要的一段時間-新主人Nicolas-Alexandre de Segur侯爵入主卡隆西格酒莊。
當時他除了卡隆西格酒莊之外,還擁有兩個頂級的歷史名莊拉圖(Chateau Latour )和拉菲(Chateau Lafite)。 儘管後兩者無論是從名氣還是規模來看,都要大於卡隆西格酒莊,但是de Segur侯爵卻對卡隆西格酒莊情有獨鍾,他說:我雖然在拉菲和拉圖釀造葡萄酒,但是我的心卻在卡隆。 也正因為這樣,一個心型圖案至今仍然印在卡隆西格酒莊葡萄酒的標籤上,向後人傾述當年de Segur侯爵對卡隆西格酒莊的一片痴心。
這款2001年份Calon Segur,具有波爾多頂級酒的水準,所幸價位並未成正比。它呈現紫紅色澤,散發黑色水果與香料般香氣,富含異國香料、黑櫻桃與皮革般迷人又複雜的風味。其酒體非常濃稠,具有悠長、略辛香的餘韻,可搭配烤肉、烤法國鴿子和乳酪。

Robert Parker: 90分 適飲期:2008-2019 I suspect this 2001 will shut down (as most young Calon-Segurs do), although it appears more forward and evolved than the huge, backward, but totally dormant 2000. The plum/ruby-colored 2001 reveals aromas of damp earth, cranberries, cherries, herbs, and forest floor. While lighter than its older sibling, it is medium-bodied, elegant, and should emerge from its post-bottling sleep in 4-5 years, and drink well for 14-15. Think of it as a lighter-weight 1988 (one of the stars of the vintage).

ATA RANGI 的意思是「新的開始」或「黎明的天空」,是的,這家酒莊的確是紐西蘭酒業的一個重要的新開始,創辦人Clive Paton 在1980買下一個貧瘠的5公頃的牧場,成為了極少數在Martinborough的釀酒先驅,形成後來著稱的「有20米礫石層的古代河床(河階沙地)」的超級酒莊。最初ATA RANGI也是有種植包括Pinot Noir、Cabernet Sauvignon、Merlot、Syrah等數種品種,但是很快地他們發現的Pinot Noir黑比諾的潛力,並且形成其兼具優雅迷人風格與濃郁水果風味的獨特風味。
ATA RANGI 還有一個很重要的傳說。就是酒莊的Abel clone (有時也被稱為 Ata Rangi clone),是某位旅客從勃艮第的羅曼尼康帝酒莊 (stem from Burgundy's Domaine Romanee Conti)中偷偷帶回,在奧克蘭機場被海關沒收,當時後來成為第一代釀酒師Malcolm Abel是海關人員,他把這個剪枝送到國有葡萄栽培研究中心, 之後ATA RANGI很順利地獲得一些剪枝,並且成功地在紐西蘭種植,加上ATA RANGI後來的表現優異,使得ATA RANGI被為紐西蘭的Domaine Romanee Conti。
ATA RANGI 的信念在該地區得到了回報,ATA RANGI 的Pinot Noir贏得三次在倫敦舉辦的Bouchard-Finlayson Trophy for Best Pinot Noir at the International Wine and Spirit Competition,建立起紐西蘭黑皮諾的國際聲譽,吸引更多重要的酒莊在Martinborough設立,ATA RANGI 則成為大家口中的「老牌經典」與「先驅」,因此對於Martinborough的黑皮諾酒業而言,ATA RANGI 是點石成金的關鍵。
現在的ATA RANGI 擁有120畝的優質葡萄園,風土都十分相似,淺層是深厚的淤泥壤土,具有自由排水的沖積礫石,降雨量很低,每年約700毫米。特別重視葡萄園的均衡發展,產量很低,整體氣候涼爽,特殊的土質在低產量下保有活力。所有的葡萄都是手工挑選,許多的葡萄樹今年29歲,這個因素都在提昇葡萄酒的質量,這是因為酒莊的目標強調在葡萄園的永續性和土壤健康。

The pinot noir I have tasted from Ata Rangi and Dry River can stand alongside any of those found in Burgundy. Ata Rangi Martinborough Pinot Noir 2008, 97/100 Complete and comforting from the very outset, Ata Rangi has delivered another benchmark pinot noir full of all the gently woven complexity and allure that sets the variety apart from most others. Like a tiny piece of Vosne-Romanee came to Martinborough; light, fragrant notes, fresh rose petals, a dusting of sweet spices and super-pure cherry fruits waft around the glass in regal formation. The palate is deliciously capricious at this young stage, for the first impression is of lightness and sheer elegance; it falls on the palate with feather-like impact then builds and builds and builds. It layers fine pastry-like sheets of tannin and arrives at a fine crescendo of flavour and pure pinot noir, leaving a comet-like trail in its wake. Ata Rangi Martinborough Pinot Noir 2008 Impeccable. Ata Rangi’s 2008 Pinot Noir would be a contender for the best Pinot Noir in New Zealand from the 2008 vintage. In a vintage that provides good quantities of beautifully ripened fruit, it takes extreme dedication and discipline to make the strictest of selection of fruit to go into a supreme label, and this is what Clive Paton and Helen Masters at Ata Rangi have done to create this outstanding wine. This was made predominantly from the oldest home blocks, with Abel clone nearing 30 years of age with some Pommard and Dijon clone, and a little 10/5 material for added complexity. 5-8 days pre-fermentation cold maceration, 5% whole bunch, indigenous yeast fermentation to a peak of 32°C and 12 months in 25% new oak, with bottling unfiltered. At 13.5% alc., this is an elegant, but extremely concentrated Pinot Noir of exquisite finesse and silky mouthfeel. Beautifully perfumed with ethereal florals and a core of red and dark fruits adding to the aromatic nature of this wine, there is no lack of substance. The tannin extraction is extremely refined, yet substantial. Aromas and flavours unfold in the glass and with each sip. The balance is nigh on perfect and allows immediate enjoyment, but make no mistake, this will age effortlessly and gracefully over the next 7-9 years. Raymond Chan, www.regionalwines.co.nz
Ata Rangi Martinborough Pinot Noir 2008 One of New Zealand's flagship pinot noirs, this hints of beeswax, smoky bacon and strawberry jam, with savoury undertones of coffee and dark chocolate from the toasty oak. It's a young wine with a lively finish, but the concentration, harmony and balance lift it above many of the others. Give it another few months or a year or so to develop its potential.
